Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered many other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have appealed to the public for details.
An important political figure said the vandalism left him without words and required to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
